You can obtain a copy of the vehicle registration document (license book) from the seller and choose a suitable insurance company in Hong Kong to purchase car insurance (Cover Note). Transfer of Ownership
Before finalising the purchase agreement, you can apply for a certificate of no outstanding fines and no violation records from any licensing office for free, ensuring all fines are paid and ruling out the possibility of a licence suspension. The third-party insurance purchased by the previous owner will become invalid immediately after the vehicle is transferred. You must complete the transfer procedures at the Transport Department within 72 hours of the transfer. Required documents include:
